Pitch for Progress: Meet This Year’s Finalists
We are just two weeks away from the Celebration of Progress and Possibilities 2026, and we are thrilled to introduce the finalists selected for this year’s Pitch for Progress competition.
Advocates and supporters from across Georgia submitted bold ideas for improving health care in our state. From those submissions, three community members were selected as finalists. On September 9 at City Winery Atlanta, they will present their ideas to a panel of judges for discussion, feedback, and recognition.
Meet the finalists:
Tanisha Corporal, Be Well, Black Girl Initiative — Rest Reimagined, a program that prescribes restorative care for Black women facing chronic stress and caregiver burden.
Toby Terwilliger and Marshall Fleurant, Georgians for a Universal Health Program — A publicly financed, single-payer health system covering every Georgia resident, with no premiums, deductibles, or copays.
Hridith Sudev, H-STAT — Student-led street medicine teams bringing health screenings and care directly to underserved Georgians, with a vision to scale statewide.
Join us Wednesday, September 9 to hear their ideas and be part of the conversation about what it will take to build a more affordable, accessible, and equitable health care system for all Georgians.
Attendance is free, with a suggested donation of $25 or more.
Welcome to GHF’s Board of Directors: Three New Voices Join Our Mission
Georgians for a Healthy Future is pleased to welcome three new members to our Board of Directors: Tom Davis, Diana Bui, and Clifton Bush. Each brings a distinct set of skills and experiences that will strengthen our work to make health care in Georgia more accessible, equitable, and affordable.
Diana Bui Operations Director, Asian American Advocacy Fund Diana Bui is a public service and nonprofit leader with more than a decade of experience advancing equity-centered programs and supporting immigrant and refugee communities across Georgia. She brings experience building partnerships across government, nonprofits, and community organizations, and currently serves at the Asian American Advocacy Fund. |
Clifton Bush Chief Operating Officer, Albany Area Primary Health Care, Inc. Clifton Bush is Chief Operating Officer of Albany Area Primary Health Care, where he oversees operations across 28 locations serving communities throughout Southwest Georgia. With extensive experience in health care administration and primary care, he brings valuable expertise on health care access and delivery outside metro Atlanta. |
Tom Davis Partner, Guidon Partners Tom Davis is a health care leader with decades of experience in health care services, strategy, and business development. As a partner at Guidon Partners, he advises health care companies and brings leadership experience from organizations including UnitedHealthcare, Coventry Health Care, MetraHealth, and Prudential. |

18,500 Georgians’ Health Coverage Could Be at Risk
Georgia is asking the federal government to cover 90% of Pathways to Coverage costs instead of the current 66%, the same higher funding rate available through Medicaid expansion. If that request is denied, the Georgia Department of Community Health has suggested that Pathways could close.
Speak up by Sept. 14.
Your voice is especially important if you are a veteran with a disability, former foster youth, caregiver of a child under 13 or an adult with a disability, or someone with a chronic or serious health condition that may qualify under Georgia’s new medical frailty criteria.
If that describes you, your perspective can help show what is at stake for the 18,500 Georgians currently enrolled in Pathways and for people who may qualify under the new federal rules beginning in January.

Powering Change Together: Georgians Are Ready to Take Action
Georgians are feeling the weight of rising health care costs, and they’re ready to do something about it.
During our recent “Powering Change Together: A Community Stand on Health Care Costs” virtual event, participants came together to share their experiences and talk about what it will take to build a health care system that works for everyone.
The message was clear: people are frustrated with the state of health care. More than 82% of participants said they have personally been impacted by health care costs.
We also heard from participants about their experiences and connected those personal stories to the bigger picture of health care costs in Georgia and across the country. Most importantly, we talked about how we can turn that frustration into collective action.
Keep the momentum going
There are several ways to get involved, including signing the One Nation, Overcharged petition, sharing your health care story with GHF, joining us at our Celebration of Progress and Possibilities, and finding upcoming events through the One Nation, Overcharged event finder.
We’re also grateful to New Disabled South for joining us and sharing resources to help people stay engaged and take action.
Add your voice. Share your story. Show up. Together, we can demand a health care system that puts people first.
Caregivers Needed for Focus Groups Next Month
Do you care for an aging parent, a spouse, a child with a disability, or another loved one? GHF wants to hear from you. We are recruiting caregivers across Georgia and are especially interested in hearing from people who are balancing care for both a child and an adult family member, providing unpaid care for a loved one with a disability, or navigating caregiving in a multilingual, immigrant, refugee, or resettlement household.
Help shape the future of caregiving in Georgia. Share your experiences, challenges, and ideas to help inform stronger policies and resources for caregivers and their families. Participants will be compensated for their time.

Where should Georgians for a Healthy Future focus our energy in the years ahead? As we develop our 2027–2030 strategic plan, we’re asking the people who care about our work to share their perspective.
There are only a few days left to weigh in. Take 15 minutes to tell us what GHF is doing well, where we can improve, and what issues should shape our priorities for the future. Your feedback will help guide our work for years to come.

Georgians for a Healthy Future and Families USA are collecting stories to share with policymakers, the press, and the public. Submit your story by September 15 and help make sure Georgia policymakers hear what’s at stake for families and communities across the state.
