Public Health, Department of; establish grant program for physicians and nurse practitioners; provisions

To create a grant program for physicians and nurse practitioners to help fund for liability insurance premiums


Medicaid expansion (with coordinating work support program)

Creates the Georgia Health and Economic Livelihood Partnership (HELP), which is a program that requires DCH to contract with a third party administrator to provide basic health care serivces to Medicaid members (unless they are on disability Medicaid) and creates a work readiness program for erollees.


Crimes and offenses; aggravated assault and battery of healthcare workers; expand enhanced punishment

To enhance punishment for aggravated assault or aggravated battery against health care workers in hospitals or health care facilities


Mental health; emergency involuntary treatment for mental health and alcohol and drug dependency; revise procedures

Amends the procedure for involuntary medical treatment for mental health and substance use to require court orders for treatment to include an unexpired physicians certificate or sworn affidavits from at least two people that they have seen the person in the last 48 hours and believe their behavior requires involuntary treatment. The bill requires these documents be included in the patients medical record.


Kathleen Cominski Act

To require state office buildings to have at least one automated external defibrillator on site for all times, in case of emergencies


Surprise Billing Consumer Protection Act; require provider to notify a covered person if services require $100.00 or more in out-of-pocket costs

Requires out-of-network providers to give notice if the patient will have to pay $100 or more out-of-pocket


Insurance; insurers providing policies for groups of 20 or more to furnish claims experience at the request of a group policyholder; require

Requires insurers providing policies for groups of 20 or more to timely furnish claims experience at the request of a group policyholder


Right to Breathe Act

Requires the Department of Community affairs to include certain indoor air quality provisions in applicable state minimum standard codes, to require the installation of indoor air quality equipment and utilization of best practices in new construction permitted on or after July 1, 2024.


Medicaid expansion

To use appropriations for the purposes of receiving federal funding for medical assistance payments and to help in funding Medicaid expansion


Reduce loss of Medicaid coverage for migrants caused by discontinuation of Families First Coronavirus Response Act

To reduce the potential loss of Medicaid coverage that is caused by the discontinuation of the federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act
