Did you know that 14,000 Georgia veterans cannot access mental and physical health care because our state lawmakers have not yet closed the coverage gap?
On Veterans Day, Cover Georgia spotlighted our military heroes and their health. Many Georgians are unaware that some veterans do not receive health services through the Veteran’s Administration. These veterans often go without the health coverage, care, and supports that they need and deserve. In Cover Georgia’s new blog, we discuss the consequences of leaving veterans and their families uninsured, and the simple action that state lawmakers can take to right this injustice: expand Medicaid.
Have you or someone you know applied for health insurance through the new Georgia Pathways program? Share your challenges and successes next week.Â
The Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) is holding a forum to give the public an opportunity to comment on the progress of the Georgia Pathways to Coverage program. The public forum will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, from 3-5 pm via Zoom.
You can share stories and feedback with DCH leaders about how the program is or isn’t working well for you and people you know. Come prepared to share responses to some or all of these questions:
- What is your experience with the Pathways program? For example, are you enrolled? Did you help someone else try to enroll? Did you or the person you helped successfully get covered?
- Was the application easy or hard? Did you understand the information that you were provided?
- Has it been easy or hard to complete the monthly work/school/other requirements to stay covered?
- Have you been disenrolled?
- Any other feedback
This information can help improve how the Pathways program works and address its challenges so that more Georgians get and stay covered.
Can’t make it to the meeting or aren’t comfortable speaking at the forum? Share your feedback with GHF! We’ll include it in our comments as best we can. Email your feedback to Knetta Adkins at kadkins@healthyfuturega.org and put these words in the subject line: “Pathways feedback”. |
