FEDERAL JUDGE SIDES WITH GOV. KEMP ON HIS
RESTRICTIVE MEDICAID PLAN FOR LOW-INCOME ADULTS |
Governor Kemp says he intends to carry out the Pathways program
In August, a federal judge sided with Governor Kemp in a lawsuit about the Governor’s restrictive Medicaid program for low-income adults. The ruling means that the Governor now has a green light to begin the new program.
The Governor’s program will require low-income Georgia adults to prove they meet strict work requirements (and pay premiums depending on their income) before they can qualify and enroll in Medicaid. The program’s complex maze of rules will keep many uninsured Georgians from gaining the health coverage and care that they need. The Governor estimates 50,000 Georgians will gain coverage–only 10% of those who could be covered by Medicaid expansion.
Cover Georgia’s newest blog post provides a full update about the court ruling, what it means for Georgians, the options available to our state leaders about how to cover uninsured Georgians, and why Medicaid expansion continues to be the best path forward. Read and share the blog at coverGA.org!

START YOUR FALL GIVING WITH GHF |
GHF joins the combined federal campaign!
Georgians for a Healthy Future joined the combined federal campaign for the first time this year! That means federal employees and retirees who aim to be change makers for our state’s health can support GHF’s advocacy through your workplace giving program.
If you are a federal employee, uniformed service member, postal worker, or retiree, you can be the face of change for the health and well-being of all Georgians by giving to Georgians for a Healthy Future through the CFC. Our designation number 72852. The campaign runs from September 1 through January 14, 2023. Donate today at cfcgiving.opm.gov. Thank you!
Consider GHF for Georgia Gives Day on 11/29!
Georgia Gives Day is coming up on Tuesday, November 29th. As Georgians across the state come together to support nonprofits serving our communities, we hope you will give to GHF.
GHF’s advocacy makes possible the changes that seem impossible for our state’s health. Your donation can help reduce the number of Georgians who are uninsured, alleviate medical debt from families’ finances, and strengthen public health systems in Georgia so we’re prepared for the next pandemic or health scare. Georgians facing these health challenges deserve a trusted champion who puts forward evidence-based solutions and connects consumers to decision makers directly–GHF!
Your donation will help build the healthy, thriving, and equitable future that every Georgian deserves. Thank you for considering GHF on Georgia Gives Day!
