As more Georgians gain access to the health care system through increased health insurance coverage, we must look beyond traditional health care settings to improve the health of all Georgians. Local community efforts demonstrate successful approaches to improve health by addressing factors outside healthcare that impact wellbeing. There is tremendous potential to scale up promising practices to positively impact health across the state. Informed, coordinated policy and advocacy work across sectors is needed to raise awareness about the social determinants of health and to educate decision-makers about the potential that a "Health In All Policies" approach holds. In order to do this, it will be essential for health policy advocates to build relationships with policy advocates in other sectors and to establish a shared policy agenda. Join GHF to discuss how health intersects with education, housing, criminal justice, and transportation, and how advocates from across sectors can work together for policy change.
