Your Story Can Protect Health Care in Georgia
We are looking for Georgians affected by Medicaid changes, rising premiums, or hospital cuts.
Georgians are facing some of the most significant health care changes in years. Medicaid work reporting requirements, the expiration of enhanced premium tax credits, and federal funding cuts are already affecting coverage, costs, and hospital access across the state. Right now, the powerful tool advocates have is the real story of people who are feeling these changes firsthand.
Georgians for a Healthy Future and Families USA are looking for Georgians to share their stories with policymakers, the press, and the public. Read our latest blog to learn who should participate, what to expect, and how to get involved before the September 15 deadline.
EPSDT Unscrambled: A New Fact Sheet for Georgia Families
Last month, we shared a video breaking down what EPSDT is and why it matters for Georgia’s children. Now we have a resource you can save, share, and put directly in the hands of families who need it.
EPSDT (which stands for Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment) is a Medicaid benefit that covers comprehensive physical, dental, vision, and mental health screenings and treatment for children and young adults under age 21. In Georgia, the benefit also extends to PeachCare for Kids enrollees under age 19. More than 1.3 million young people across the state have access to this benefit.
Unlike private insurance, EPSDT has no hard caps on services. Families do not have to worry about coverage running out after a set number of therapy visits or prescriptions. They can focus on what matters most: supporting their child.

The Male Caregivers Redefining Strength in Georgia
Across Georgia, men are stepping up as caregivers for parents, partners, and loved ones every day. But their stories are rarely part of the conversation. This Men’s Health Month, GHF’s Caregivers Advisory Group members, Armstrong S. and Joey J., share what caregiving has cost them, what it has taught them, and what Georgia policymakers need to do to help.
- 64% of family caregivers report high emotional stress
- 30% have been caregiving for five or more years
- 2.5 million family caregivers in Georgia
Georgia Men Aren’t Avoiding Health Care. They’re Being Locked Out.
Every June, Men’s Health Month encourages men to prioritize their health. But for many Georgia men, the biggest obstacle isn’t awareness — it’s access. High health care costs, lack of insurance coverage, and Georgia’s ongoing coverage gap leave many low-income men without a realistic path to preventive care or treatment until a health crisis occurs.
In a new guest blog, Geo Ayala, Executive Director of Serving At-risk Families Everywhere (SAFE), examines how Georgia’s health coverage policies are failing men, families, and communities — and why Medicaid expansion remains the most effective solution.
