About Georgians for a Healthy Future: Georgians for a Healthy Future (GHF) is a nonpartisan nonprofit consumer health advocacy organization located in Atlanta, Georgia. With a mission to collaborate with communities and partners to lead policy change that advances health equity for all Georgians, GHF is the leading health advocacy and policy organization in Georgia. Georgians for a Healthy Future Policy Evaluation Research Assistant 

Georgians for a Healthy Future seeks a dynamic self-starter to assist in the Assisting Consumers through Coverage Exchange Shifts (ACCESS) project. 

The project goals include: 

  • Educating Georgians in at-risk communities about the switch from healthcare.gov to georgiaaccess.gov 
  • Monitoring, documenting, and sharing changes in health insurance enrollment and other vital metrics; 
  • Documenting and sharing the impact of these changes on Georgia consumers and families; and 
  • Promoting policies and practices that ensure the new state-based health insurance exchange (SBE) effectively meets the health coverage needs of Georgians. 

The research assistant will assist in evaluating the changes resulting from Georgia’s marketplace transition and making the results publicly available in brief, easy-to-understand deliverables. These materials will make it possible for key stakeholders and state leaders to understand how the SBE is working, who it is or is not serving well, and how improvements might be made. 

More specifically, the person in this position will: 

  • Gain a broad understanding of the policy landscape in the state related to health insurance outreach and enrollment Identify and communicate the changes related to the state administering a State-Based Exchange 
  • Gather information from key stakeholders in the state to better understand and communicate these changes to the public. 

Proposed tenure: April 1-December 31, 2024. (Opportunities to extend the internship into 2025 are likely available and can be considered in fall 2024.) 

Compensation: $18 hourly, for an estimated 15 hours per week 

Qualifications: 

  • Graduate student in a program related to public policy, public health, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in policy research or evaluation 
  • Experience in statistical analysis

Selected candidate will be required to work at the GHF office at least once per week. Schedule can be set in coordination with their supervisor.
